Arthur L. Bennett, Jr., 65, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.  He was a native of Henderson County and was preceded in death by his father, Arthur L. Bennett, Sr., mother, Clara May Bennett and a sister, Marilyn Anderson. He was a graduate of Hendersonville High School and attended East Carolina University and the University of Illinois, graduating with degrees in Liberal Arts, Avionics and Architecture.He served in the U.S. Air Force in South Korea and Southeast Asia including Thailand and Viet Nam, where he served as an Electronics Technician in Telecom Switching equipment.  He served in Telecommunications Systems during the Viet Nam war.He was employed by Ford Aerospace in Guam, the Seychelle Islands and California in Satellite Tracking Systems as well as communications and maintenance of electronics systems.He was later employed by GTE Sprint as a Senior Systems Support Analyst in Burlingame, California, Dallas and Kansas City where he also worked in Software Development, Technology/Telecom Systems, Engineering and Systems Analysis.  He was also employed by Camp Mondamin in Tuxedo after moving to North Carolina.From an early age he developed a talent as well as a passion for flying and specialty woodworking.Survivors include his loving wife Marie-France of 32 years whom he met while in the Seychelles.  Other survivors include his sister, Clara Reed and husband Fred, brother-in-law David Anderson and an uncle, James L. Bennett of Columbia, S.C.  In addition, he is also survived by a sister-in-law Lydia Houlette and husband Joe, mother-in-law RenetteBerlouisand sister-in-law Margaret Coopoosamy and husband Marcel as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.He loved his church and his dedicated Pastor, MikellBenett and had a great faith in his Lord, Jesus Christ.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21st, 2017 at 1 P.M. at Tuxedo First Baptist Church, Zirconia.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Tuxedo First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 685, Zirconia, NC 28790
