Clara Mae McMahan Benoist, 79, passed away on April 27, 2017 at the JF Keever Solace Center in Asheville, NC. She was born on August 19, 1937 to Olabell Wykle and James Adam McMahan in Jackson County, NC. Ms. Clara loved for her hair to be brushed or fixed by her daughters and granddaughters. There was one time that her daughter, Sharon, rolled her hair in pin curls all over her head. When she took it down, Ms. Clara had a huge head of curls going every which way. Sharon told her mom that this was “payback” for all the curls she had to wear as a child on picture day at school. Ms. Clara loved her family deeply and her presence will be missed greatly. She is preceded in death by one brother, Dallas McMahan and sister, Fronnie Bashaw. Left to cherish these memories and many more are her daughters, Sharon Tucker, Karen Childress, Wanda Paul, and Cathy Setzer. Grandchildren, Adam (Regina) Brotherton, Ryan (Carrie) Brotherton, Karis (Leigh) Dunn, Jason Suggs, Maria Beckett, Harold Tucker, Chad Tucker, Kristy Tucker, Daniel Bentley, Angela Arnette; sisters, pearl Baily, Alice Queen, Paulen Hyde; brothers, Carlos McMahan, Walter McMahan. Jesus has welcomed dear Clare into Heaven with arms opened wide and she is singing with the angels now! God be praised! From death into glorious life eternal with God, our Father in Heaven! O Hallelujah to the Lord for His mercy and goodness this day for Clara Mae Benoist, my friend of 53yrs. May she enjoy seeing all her loved ones again, and have her heart's delight in Jesus! Amen.
