Daniel Francis Patrick Gallagher, 65, of Hot Springs, NC passed away after an extended illness on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville. Daniel was born on August 20, 1952 in Fairfield, CT to the late Francis and Bettye Gallagher. He was honorably discharged from serving his country in the United States Air Force as a law enforcement specialist and military dog handler. He worked for the Red Cross, as well as the Veteran Administration in Asheville. Daniel, along with his business partner, Wayne Crosby, created and co -owned Bluff Mountain Outfitters in Hot Springs since 1997. Daniel served as a member of Keeping the Promise to America’s Veterans and was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He also enjoyed serving as a river guide with Carolina Wilderness.
Survivors include his loving wife of 20 years, Ruth Christine (Tully) Gallagher of Hot Springs, NC. He also leaves behind his daughter, Tara (Jeffrey) Sampson and their children, Abby and Bella Rose of Knoxville, TN. His and Ruth’s children through marriage, Jennifer Boylan and her children, Mathew and Seamus Brady of Woodstock, NY; Stephen (Kimberly) Boylan and their children, Hannah and Scarlett Ophelia, Robert (Christine) Fara and their children, Arabella and Robert Fara Jr., of NY; 2 nephews Phillip and Nick Gallagher, as well as Aunt Paddy and her son, Gibson.
A celebration of life for Daniel will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 433 Lance Avenue Hot Springs, NC 28743.
