James “Jamie” Lee Smith Jamie was born in Asheville on Saturday, August 5, 1978. He passed away Friday, August 4, 2017. He attended North Buncombe High School, Western Carolina University, and UNC Asheville.

Jamie is preceded in death by his grandparents: Carl and Marjorie Smith, Pamela and Graham Ivey; and an uncle, Lt. Cdr. Stewart Ivey.

Jamie is survived by his parents, Jim and Susan Smith; sisters, Bridgett (Daniel) Helm, Tracy (Lee) Powell, Marcia (John) Deis; grandmother, Carolyn Ivey; aunt, Susan (Junior) Wilson; nephews, Luke and Ross; nieces, Chloe and Chelsea; and two cousins.

Jamie was an avid UNC Tar Heel fan, and loved trout fishing, camping, hiking, snowboarding, and discussing politics.

A private service was held at Penland Cemetery. If anyone would like to donate in Jamie’s memory, the family requests donations to Reems Creek/Beech Presbyterian Church at 4 Sugar Cove Road, Weaverville, NC 28787.
