Joyce Edna Held Reaume, 85, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017 in Asheville, NC. She was born on August 3, 1932 in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin to Edgar William Held and Edna Anna Unmack. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert S. Reaume and son, Michael Reaume. Joyce is survived by children Cheryl Gratton (Ken), Gayle Reaume, Laurie Reaume, Bill McMichael Reaume (Ellen), daughter-in-law Patricia Reaume; grandchildren, Paul Gratton (Laura), Tracy Scott (Adam), Scott Gratton (Samantha), Evan A. Skiera, Jason Reaume, Jennifer Reaume, Elizabeth McMichael Reaume and Amelia McMichael Reaume; and great-grandchildren Dorian, Elliott, Everleigh, Ezra, Eden, Eli, and Baby Splendor.

Her family was the center of her life and pride and joy.  She was a teacher of the deaf for 21 years before enjoying her wonderful retirement in North Carolina. Joyce was a longtime community volunteer with numerous organizations including Habitat for Humanity, AAUW, Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry (ABCCM), and the Brevard Job Corps Center.  She received recognition from the Friends of Education in Brevard, the Job Corps, Literacy Council, and the North Carolina Governor’s Award for Volunteerism.

A memorial service will be held at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Asheville on Saturday October 7 at 1:00 pm.
