Loran Dean Marlow, 86, of Mills River NC, died on October 14, 2017 at Elizabeth House, Flat Rock, NC. Dean was born in Jefferson County Illinois. He was the son of Datha Myrle and Lillie Piercy Marlow. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Cleve, Loyd, Norman, Eugene and his sister, Lucille Parks. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Westman Marlow. Dean spent his career as an educator. He taught junior high and high school. He retired from teaching after twenty-three years teaching earth science and related courses at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL. Dean served in the US Marine Corp from 1951-1954 serving in the Korean War 1952-1953. Dean is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jeanette Munns Marlow, and his brother Les Marlow of Dix IL. His children are Connie Marlow-Links and husband Mike Links of Pocahontas, IL and Janice Rojas and husband Jeff Rojas of Glen Carbon, IL.; stepchildren, Teresa Allsbrook and husband David Allsbrook and Dan Crocker and wife Claudia Crocker all of Raleigh, NC. Dean's grandchildren are Chianne Marlow, Samantha Rojas, Kodi Links, Aaron Allsbrook, and Dayna Crocker. Great grandchildren are Kenlee Marlow, David Allsbrook and Harper Allsbrook. According to Dean's wishes there will not be a service. Memorials may be sent to Black Mountain Home for Children, a ministry important to Dean and his family, 80 Lake Eden Rd. Black Mountain, NC, 28711.
