Mamie (Gemayel) Williams

     Mamie Gemayel Williams of Asheville, recently passed away at the age of 94. Mamie was 1 of 7 children born to Niome and Nafie Gemayel of Spencer, NC. She attended Catawba College in Salisbury and Cabarrus School of Nursing, where she earned her degree in 1948. She moved to Asheville in 1951 and married Homer Williams in 1957. Mamie was a kind and generous soul, always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. Her life revolved around family, friends, and the Church. She enjoyed time in her kitchen, sewing, knitting, feeding the birds, and raking leaves.

     Mamie is survived by a son, Scott Williams and wife Dorothy of Candler; a daughter, Jan Haynes and husband Tim of Weaverville; three grandchildren, Jeremy Williams of Candler, Ashley McMahon of Asheville, and Benjamin Haynes of Weaverville; along with one sister, Pat Harmon of Salisbury.

     A service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 587 Haywood Rd., West Asheville, on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Smile Train, World Vision, or charity of your choice.
