Mary Lex Moore of Burnsville, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017 at her home surrounded by her whole family at the age of 73.

A native and lifelong resident of Yancey County and the youngest of 10 children, she born December 8, 1943 to the late Walter M. Moore and Floye Stillwell Moore. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by seven of her brothers and sisters.

Ms. Moore graduated from Cane River High School, and was working for Smoky Ridge Nursing and Rehab in Burnsville. She loved people and caring for them, as well as taking care of her flowers.

Survivors include her five children, Karen Henry (John) of Balsam, Dewayne Mann (Lisa) of Canton, Rebecca Marcus (Tony) of Canton, Brad Mann of Canton, and David Shelton (Asheley) of Burnsville; two siblings, Lily Ann Lyda, and Cody F. Moore (Darlene), both of Weaverville; five grandchildren, Cody, Jordan, Josh, Elizabeth, and Aiedunn; and her special companion, her little dog, Buddy.

A private service will be held by the family.
