Richard Charles (Dickie/RC) Murdock, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Elizabeth House on January 4, 2017 in Flat Rock, NC at the age of 77.Dickie is survived by his children Karen Furnari of Mills River, NC Deborah Muse of Mills River, NC Richard “Chuck” Murdock and fiancé Melissa Griffin of Mills River, NC and stepdaughter Anita Lowe of Boone, NC; a sister Virginia Weisberg (Herman) of Mills River, NC; grandchildren Dustin Furnari of Chicago, IL, Karla Furnari of Asheville, NC, Katie Wilson and husband Andy Wilson of Clemmons, NC, Lauren Muse of Mills River, NC, Tanner Muse of Reidsville, NC, great-grandchildren Zelda Wilson of Clemmons, NC. He is preceded in death by wife Carolyn Murdock of Mills River, NCDickie was born on May 7th, 1939 in Washington, DC to Richard Francis Murdock and Alice Barnette Murdock, and then moved to Mills River, at the age of 12.In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations to be made to Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC.Although his stay was short, the family wishes to thank the staff of Elizabeth House for the wonderful care they took of Dickie.Due to projected inclement weather, funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
