Scott Richard Stengel, 58, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Stonecreek Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born September 18, 1958 in Morristown, NJ, and was a son of Shirley Ann Murphy Stengel of Chester, NJ and the late George Henry Stengel. He was a graduate of West Morris Central High School in Chester, NJ and he proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Stengel was a self employed contractor who enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing pool, the Blue Ridge mountains and listening to blue grass music. Before moving to Asheville, he was a resident of Cape Cod, MA. He is survived by a son, Scott Richard (LeaAnn) Stengel, Jr. of Rockaway, NJ; sister, Terry (Roger) Keyser of Long Valley, NJ; brother, Roger Stengel of Andover, NJ; three grandchildren: Trey, Hudson and Cru Stengel of Rockaway, NJ; niece, Kristen (James) Meehan of Holmdel, NJ; nephews, Bryan Fylstra of Wayne, ME; Thomas Fylstra of Augusta, ME; and Robert Keyser of Long Valley, NJ. There will be a private service held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
