Mary Michelle McAlister

Mary Michelle McAlister, a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on March 13th, 2024 in Bryson City, North Carolina. She was born on March 1st, 1986 in York, South Carolina to her loving parents Geraldine Russell and the late Coaley Ray McAlister.

Mary will be deeply missed by her daughter Charisma McAlister (Logan), who meant the world to her. She is also survived by her mother Geraldine Russell; grandmother Mary McAlister, sisters Jennifer Ramsey, Melissa Anderko (twin), and Brittany McAlister; cousins Crystal McAlister and Tia Goins who were like sisters to her; as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she adored, Breanna Miles, Lexi Russell, Kaleb Schaaf, Savannah Schaaf, Gage Scoggins, Jacob Sturdivant , Aiden Anderko, Chloe Anderko, Olivia Geery, Arissah Ramsey, Arayah Ramsey 

She was preceded in death by her father Coaley Ray McAlister; sister Kristi Hinson; stepfather Bill Goins; grandfathers Robert McAlister and William ( Willie) Goins; as well as grandmothers Maxine Goins and Bobbie Goins.

Mary's presence brought light into the lives of those around her. Her love for cooking and trying new restaurants reflected not only her adventurous spirit but also her desire to create memorable experiences with loved ones. Her bond with Charisma, whom she called Snickerdoodle, was unbreakable - they shared countless cherished moments together that will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

Her infectious laughter filled every room she entered. She was a beautiful person with a big and generous heart who was always there for those she cared for.  She had the spirit of a fighter but loved like battles didn't exist. Her nieces and nephews  looked up to their "Aunt May May" for her strength, her beauty and style , and also her ability to win at claw machines -she always won them a prize on the first try. It was her superpower.  She found joy in the simplicity of life but also loved to live big. She loved so fiercely and it was felt by everyone. 

A memorial service honoring Mary's life will take place at Trinity Church on April 6th at 11am located at 12610 Steele Creek Rd., Charlotte NC 28273 followed by a celebration of life at Leghorn Tavern from 2pm-4pm where friends can gather over food & refreshments.

In this time of sorrow may we find solace in remembering Mary’s vibrant spirit that touched so many lives. May we carry forward the joy she brought into our lives while cherishing memories that will live on within us forever.
