Anthony Carl Crabb, 75, died Sunday, April 28, 2019 in Asheville.
Anthony was born July 24, 1943 in Winchester, Illinois to the late Betty Louise Harrod Smith and Clarence Bernard Crabb. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1960 to 1966 in St. George as well as in Staten Island, New York. Petty Officer Crabb was assigned to the U.S. Cutter, ‘Scotland,’ in the Vietnam sector of patrol. Anthony then worked as a Sheriff’s deputy in Cook County, Illinois. He enjoyed restoring antique radios and collecting lighthouses. Anthony will always be remembered by his witty sense of humor that kept all laughing.
Anthony is survived by his eight children, Karen, Anthony, Christian, John, Nathaniel, Elizabeth, Zachary and Holly as well as twelve grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Black Mountain for the excellent care Anthony received over the past few years.
A memorial service for Anthony will be held Friday, May 3, 2019, at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Asheville. Dr. Reverend Ronnie Owen will preside. The family will be receiving family and friends between 10 and 11 o’clock am.
