Christy Stevens Obituary

Christy M. Stevens, 55, left this earth today, May 13, 2019, and has joined her parents, Charlie and Margaret Stevens, in heaven.   She was born in Asheville but resided in Leicester, NC in her home on the country hill where her dogs ran free and she could count the stars at night without any city lights.

Christy leaves behind her life partner of 17 years, Ann Maple, with whom she shared her home together with all their beloved fur babies, especially her Huskies, Lagatha and Sampson.  She is further survived by her three sisters, Sylvia Stevens, Trisha Stevens and Charlene Stevens Wilson and husband, Jack.  Three of the brightest stars in Christy’s life were her niece and nephews, Hannah, John and Toby Wilson.  Christy was so very proud of John becoming a N.C. State graduate, enjoyed sharing her love of crafting with Hannah and loved cheering for Toby on the baseball field.  She will truly be missed by all her family and friends, near and far, including her close cousins, Junior and Nancy Stevens and her “favorite” sister of the heart, Michelle Stevens Hare.

Christy received a college degree in accounting but also spent a lot of her time with her “work family” at Foam and Fabrics.  She worked there since she was 14, and always felt fortunate to spend time with Charlene, Margaret, Nancy and other friends.  There never seemed to be a dull moment when they all worked together.

Christy was passionate about sports at T.C. Roberson, having played volleyball and softball all four years of high school.  After that, she continued playing softball locally and on a travel team.   Many long-lasting sisterhood friendships were made on and off the ballfield.  There are memories and stories, too many to count, to tell from all her tournament travels.

Christy, in her own special way, stayed true to her favorite number 13.  She wore #13 on the softball field, was born on the 13th and departed on the 13th.

A Celebration of Christy’s life will be planned in the near future.
