Coleman Plemmons Obituary

Coleman “Bruce” Plemmons, 73, of Mills River, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 14, 2018. He was born on June 26, 1944 to Gladys and Coleman Plemmons in Hendersonville, NC. He was a graduate of West Henderson High School, Class of ’63, and the former Blanton’s Business College of Asheville, NC. He served his country in the NC National Guard. Bruce was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mills River. He was an avid fan of motorsports, and sports in general, and also enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years when his health allowed him to do so. In his later years, he liked to watch old westerns on TV and listening to Rush Limbaugh on the radio, along with spending time with his beloved canine buddy, Bailey. Bruce formerly worked for the American Enka Company and later for Yellow Freight Systems for many years in Atlanta, Ga. His job allowed him to travel extensively and he loved to tell stories of the sites that he had seen and the people he met along the way.

Bruce is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty Plemmons.

Left to cherish his memories are his brothers Rick (Laurie) Plemmons of Mills River; Michael (Lana) Plemmons of Mills River; sister Joan (Doyle) Hill of Hendersonville; one niece, Dawnn and three nephews, Jamie, Kevin, and Logan. He also leaves behind great nieces and nephews Brandon, Blaine, and Jessica, and several great-great nieces and nephews.

The family sincerely wishes to thank all of the wonderful and caring doctors and nurses that took care of Bruce during his illness; we will always pray for God’s blessings to shine on you each day. The family will conduct a private service for Bruce, and at a later date will have a memorial for Bruce’s loving friends at his church. We ask that anyone wishing to honor Bruce’s memory would consider a donation to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 112 Rays Place Lane, Horse Shoe, NC, 28742 or to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, www.FourSeasonsCFL.org .
