Curtis Carl Banther, 87, of Lake Toxaway and Brevard, departed this world on Sunday, September 29th after a period of declining health.
Curtis was predeceased by his parents Dock and Betha Patterson Banther; son, Ronald Banther; daughter Diane Banther Rice; brothers Lawrence Banther and Kenneth Banther; sisters Leo Owen, Annie Keller and Ruby Chapman; and grandson Matthew Hughey.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marilyn Townsend Banther; son Gary Banther (Kim); a sister Janice Vanburen; step-daughters Teresa Rigsby, Diane Shelton and Angela Meyers; daughter-in-law Pam Banther; and grandchildren Shannon Jones, Kyle Rice, Kayla Rice, Brett Banther, Brooke Allingham, David Shelton, Megan Shelton, Savannah Meyers, Cameron Meyers and Addison Meyers; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Anela McMahan and husband Sammy.
Curt retired from with Ecusta where he was an employee for more than 40 years. He was a sideline supporter of youth and high school football, and a fan of country and local bluegrass music, but his favorite pastime was golfing with friends. He was a charter member of Glen Cannon Country Club in Brevard and he was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Quebec.
Curt will be missed by family and friends. Per his request, no service is planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s/Dementia organizations.
