Curtis Clyde Vellano, 74 of Asheville, went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2017. He was born on July 15, 1942 to the late Mary Margaret Mashburn and Paul Vellano and a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. Curtis was a 1959 graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School and continued his education through heavy equipment school. He was employed for over 40 years in the rock crushing industry. When not working, Curtis enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Curtis is preceded in death by his sister, Martha Vellano Carter and niece, Allison Carter Kirk. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 51 years, Nancy Williams Vellano of Asheville, NC; daughter Kristin Vellano Skipper and her husband Tony of Chester, NJ; grandson John Skipper of Chester, NJ; nephew Vincent Vellano Carter and his wife Sidney, along with their children, Simon and Elisabeth of Asheville, NC. He also leaves behind four nephews, Joe (Penny) Vellano of Latham, NY; Paul (Joanie) Vellano of Rexford, NY; John Vellano of Albany, NY; and Tony (Holly) Vellano of Albany, NY.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at 3:00 pm in the sanctuary of Oakley United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends on hour prior to the service.
