Derle Brent Emory, 68, of Weaverville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 18, 2019, at his residence.
Derle was born in Durham, North Carolina on December 10, 1950, to Leola Dollar Emory and the late James Brent Emory. He was married to Maureen H. Emory, who preceded him in death in 2018. Derle served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force and was an IT administrator with Care Partners. He was a mandolin player and an enthusiast of bluegrass music. He was an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America and served as Scoutmaster of Troop 15 in Weaverville. He will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish his memory include three sons, Brent Emory and wife Evyonne of Hendersonville, NC, Matthew Emory and wife Allison of New Jersey, and Jonathan Emory and wife Rebecca of Weaverville, NC; a sister, Marilyn Heiser and husband Richard of Edenton, NC; two brothers, Joel Emory of Black Mountain, NC and Brian Emory and wife Julie of Marshall, NC; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at St. Eugene’s Catholic Church in Asheville.
