Donald "Jerry' Gerald West, 68, of Asheville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville. A native of Asheville, he was a son of the late W. R. and Marie West. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Jackson of Asheville; siblings, Ronnie and Bobby West, and Marie Gibbs. He was a talented self employed painter. Surviving are his life partner of 33 years, and caretaker through his illness, Nancy Clemmons of Asheville; daughter, Teresa Marie West of Chapel Hill; siblings, Alta Wood and spouse, David, of Creedmoor, Bill West and spouse Gladys of Greenville, SC, and Pat Beverly of Hillsbough; "stepchildren": Lisa Hensley and her spouse, Tony, of Asheville, Teresa Lawrence and her spouse, Jason, of Sandstone, MN, and Scott Edward Clemmons of Asheville; grandchildren, Ricky and Shelby Jackson, and several additional grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Glad Tiding Family Church of which he was a member.
