Dorthy Mae Alice McClellan Benson, 85, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at her home in Fletcher, North Carolina.
Dorthy was born in Cadot, Wisconsin on March 15, 1933 to the late Josephine Felsner McClellan and Frank McClellan. She was married to Edward James Benson, her husband of 64 years. Dorthy graduated from Mt. Pisgah Academy, Southern Missionary College, as a Registered Nurse, then Madison School of Anesthesia. She was deeply involved in her work, retiring three times, and in her family with whom she maximized visitation over the past ten years. Dorthy enjoyed gardening and cooking and attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Now, she rests in Jesus.
In addition to her parents, Dorthy was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Eugene, Daniel and Howard.
Those left to cherish Dorthy’s memory include her husband, Edward James Benson of Fletcher; her children, Barbara Jean Danner of Mill Spring, North Carolina, Gerald Edward Benson of Buladeen, North Carolina, Tina Marie Benson Danner of Fletcher, North Carolina and Jeff Oscar Benson of Galt, California; siblings, Ruth Trivett of McMinnville, Tennessee, Joseph Paul McClellan of Wilmington, North Carolina and George Raymond McClellan of Cleveland, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
