Douglas M. Landgraf, 72, of Asheville, North Carolina, died peacefully on Saturday, November 18th, 2017 at the Solace Care Partners Hospice in Asheville, NC.

He is survived by his wife and partner of 11 years, Jackie Rees, and two children from a previous marriage Ted Landgraf and Sara Chegar, both of Carmel, Indiana and four grandchildren. He is additionally survived by a twin brother John B. Landgraf, of Longboat Key, Florida and Karl D. Landgraf of Newport, Rhode Island.

He and Jackie moved to Asheville, NC from Columbus, Ohio where they bought and ran Instant Karma, subsequently opening a second location in West Asheville.

Mr. Landgraf was born in Washington D.C in May, 1945 and was one of four sons of William B, and Lilla M. (Peg) Landgraf of Newport, Rhode Island.

He raised his family in Indianapolis, Indiana where he coached his children’s soccer teams and was a dedicated family man.

Doug grew up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio and was graduated from Denison University in 1967. At Denison he captained the swimming team, was an all-American swimmer, and was inducted into the Denison Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984.

After graduation he joined the U.S. Army and after leaving the army became the head coach of the swimming and soccer teams at Wabash College.

He was active in sports throughout his life and participated in many senior swimming meets including two across the bay swims of Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island.
