Edith Marie (Wood) Greene

     Edith Marie “Edie” Wood Greene, 82, of Buncombe County, NC, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019 at the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville.

     Edie was born in Brevard, NC on March 3, 1937 to the late Martha Marcella Norton Coman and Walter Wood. She was married to her late husband of forty five years, Jack Greene. She was a graduate of Brevard High School and later attended beauty school. She enjoyed sewing, golfing, bowling, cooking, and tennis. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

     In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Susie Osborne; and her step father, Reuben Coman.

     Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Amy Davis (Dennis Owenby) of Canton, NC and Jennifer Banner (Larry) of Black Mountain; two grandsons, Billy Wilson (Natalia) of Asheville and Preston Banner of Black Mountain; a granddaughter, Taylor Banner (Will Raines) of Black Mountain; a niece, Tamya McLaurin of Charlotte, NC; and many great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

     In lieu of a formal service, the family will host a celebration of life more in the spirit of a family reunion. Please join us at Lake Julian Park, picnic shelter #5, on Sunday, July 21st at 2:00. Meat and beverages will be provided, please bring whatever side or dessert item your family enjoys. We look forward to a time of fellowship and sharing stories and memories of Mom.
