Grace Ellen Oldham

Ellen Oldham, 73, passed away peacefully at home on May 28th, 2019, in Asheville, NC and was welcomed into a new life of peace and love by her mother Teeny and younger brother Charlie.

Born in New Jersey, Ellen lived in Manhattan and Brooklyn New York before moving to Asheville in 1991.

Ellen had a brilliant mind and a colorful life, which she lived on her own terms. Her varied interests included spirituality, astrology, reggae music, dancing, movies, books, writing, and the love of animals. Throughout her life, Ellen made many friends who valued her gifts of being a conversationalist on a wide range of topics and a non-judgmental listener.

Ellen is survived by her father, George A. Oldham, of Hendersonville, NC, brothers John Oldham (Jessica) of Islesboro, ME and Bill Oldham of Hendersonville, NC; sister Martha O. Huggins (Fred) of Hendersonville, NC; nephew Charlie Huggins (Tosha) of Hendersonville, NC; nieces Natalie Oldham of Islesboro, ME and Rachel Huggins of Hendersonville, NC; as well as several great-nieces and nephews.

A Quaker memorial service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, July 28, 2019, in the Magnolia Room at Carolina Village of Hendersonville, NC.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels of Asheville and Buncombe County at 146 Victoria Rd Asheville, NC 28801.
