Helen Katherine Thompson, 86, passed away on April 26, 2017. Born on January 17, 1931, in Buncombe County to Cordie Ballard and W.J. Thompson. Helen graduated from Lee H. Edwards High School, where she was a titled beauty queen and honor student. Helen was very active in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a woman ahead of her time. Helen was independent, outspoken and career oriented. She was an accountant/bookkeeper for several car dealerships, as well as for Little Pigs Bar-B-Que. She also retired from Sisco Foods and was a consultant for medical claims. Helen was a member of Gross United Methodist Church and had a great love for animals.
