James B. McLaughlin

James B. McLaughlin, age 80, of Fairview, NC, passed away, on Thursday, December 26, 2019, at the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville.

Mr. McLaughlin was born on July 23, 1939 in Jackson Co., NC to the late Clyde Lee McLaughlin and Ida Lust McLaughlin. He was of the Baptist faith and worked as a line operator for Gerber Baby Food and volunteered with EMS.

Mr. McLaughlin was a hard working man who had a quiet and humble nature.  He loved to go fishing, hunting and enjoyed being outdoors. Most importantly, he loved his family dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Lunsford McLaughlin; and three brothers, Eugene, Sammy and Richard McLaughlin.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son, William “Willie” McLaughlin and his wife Deborah, of Swannanoa; grandchildren, William “Willie” McLaughlin, Jr. and wife Shawna of Southport, NC, Tanya McLaughlin of Virginia and Jennifer McLaughlin of Myrtle Beach, SC; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Dickey McLaughlin and five sisters, Edwina, Carolyn, Pat, Patsy, and Hazel.

A memorial service will be held at ten o'clock the morning of Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Grassy Branch Baptist Church, on Riceville Road. Bill Brown and Joy Lunsford will officiate.
