James Bernice “Butch” Wallace, 76, of Arden, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020, at the Charles F. George VA Medical Center in Asheville.
He was born in Buncombe County, NC to the late James Calvin Wallace and Thelma Virginia Hudgins Wallace. He was married to his wife of 51 years, Linda Lou Boehm Wallace. He attended Biltmore School and served his country proudly in the United States Army. He worked at Consolidated Electrical Distributors of Asheville, with whom he retired after 31 years of service. He was of Baptist faith and was a member of Trinity of Fairview. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, collecting/antiquing, and making people laugh. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Calvin Wallace, Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Linda Wallace of Arden; a daughter, Michelle Wallace Johnson of Charleston, SC; a son, Bradley James Wallace and wife Nicole of Hendersonville, NC; two brothers, Henry Agard Wallace of Candler, NC and Richard Arnold “Rick” Wallace of Edneyville, NC; two granddaughters, Caitlynn Michelle Young of Asheville and Liana Allison Wallace of Hendersonville; two grandsons, Stephen Antonio Byrd of Charleston, SC and Brayden James Wallace of Hendersonville; and two great grandchildren, Hayleigh Braelynn Hefner of Asheville and Kyland James Byrd of Greenville, SC.
A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC. Pastor Stacey Harris will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Trinity of Fairview, 646 Concord Rd., Fletcher, NC 28732.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Valor Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association, for research, in Jim’s name. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Valor Hospice and all employees for care given.
