Joseph Leroy Watkins

     Joseph “Joe” Leroy Watkins, 48, of Concord, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville.

     Joe was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 20, 1969 to Marjorie Marie Smalls Grier and the late Joseph Larry Watkins. He graduated from Germantown High School in 1988. He served in the U.S. Army and was a professional insulation installer. Joe was a fun person who was always full of life. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, dancing and singing. He will always be loved and missed by his family and friends.

     In addition to his father, Joe was preceded in death by a sister, Crystal Watkins.

     He is survived by his wife, Crystal Nicole Munsey Watkins of Concord; his mother, Marjorie Grier of Philadelphia; four daughters, Jasmine Watkins of Philadelphia, JaNee Watkins of Charlotte, Alana Dixon of Concord, and Unique Watkins of Concord; four sons, Dante Watkins of Philadelphia, Joseph “Lil Joe” Watkins of Concord, Tropez Joplin of Charlotte, and Joseph Joplin of Charlotte; seven brothers, Corby Watkins and wife Lea of Charlotte, Christopher Yeldell and wife Tyeshia of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Billy Greir and wife Breaynia of Charlotte, Selmar Yeldell of Philadelphia, Leroy Bonaparte of Dillon, South Carolina, Buck Greir of Philadelphia, and Cash Money Greir of Philadelphia; two granddaughters, Ta’leah Joplin and Aubree Joplin, both of Charlotte; and a grandson, Bryant Joplin of Charlotte.

     A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Trinity Baptist Church on Arrowood Road in Charlotte. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.ashevillemortuaryservices.com
