Hendersonville --- Kenneth Earle McJunkin, 78, passed away at his home on November 15, 2017.  Born in 1939 in Six Mile, SC, he was the son of the late Folger Earl McJunkin and Flora Pressley McJunkin. Kenneth was a Vietnam War Veteran and served in the US Army in the Pacific overseas.  He resided in Pennsylvania for 25 years and earned a degree from Franklin and Marshall College.  He owned his own printing business, worked as an insurance adjuster and computer programmer, and was employed by the US Postal Service for 17 years.  He was a twenty-year member of The American Legion Post 77 in Hendersonville, NC.

 

In addition to his parents, Kenneth is preceded in death by his sisters, Melba McDowell and Linda Justus. Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Erin McJunkin Phillips (Robert) of Walhalla, SC; sister, Judy McJunkin Townsend (Frank); two grandchildren, Robert Tyler Phillips and Caitlin Phillips Chewning (Daniel); brother-in-law Robert Justus; nieces Tammy McDowell and Angela Justus; and nephew, Joe Townsend. 

 

A committal service with military honors will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 29th in the Chapel at the NC State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.ashevillemortuaryservices.com.  Asheville Mortuary Services is assisting the family.
