Lowell Bryson Obituary

Lowell “Lou” V. Bryson, 81, of Pisgah Forest, North Carolina passed away following a long battle with skin cancer on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at his residence.

Lou was born in Big Ridge of Jackson County, North Carolina on December 25, 1936. He graduated from Brevard High School class of 1954. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve while in high school and later served in the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command during the Korean War. Lou was married to his high school sweetheart and wife of sixty three and a half years, Sara Elizabeth Brown Bryson. He was a quality control supervisor at DuPont where he retired after many years of service and was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church. Lou was an outdoorsman who was fond of hunting and fishing. He was also a craftsman who excelled in woodworking and jewelry making. Most of all, he loved his family who will always cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, David Simpson; and a great grandson, Brayden Nicholson.  

Survivors include his wife, Sara Bryson of Pisgah Forest; two daughters, Debora Simpson and husband David of Brevard, and Sheila Nicholson of Brevard; a son, Vernon Bryson and wife Teresa of Pisgah Forest; fourteen grandchildren, Mandi Lewis, Bonnie Benjamin and husband Erwin, Megan Luker and husband Josh, Clayton Simpson and wife Sara, Logan Simpson and wife Kelly, Catlin Craig and husband Justin, Taylor Simpson, Bam Nicholson and wife Brooke, Jeniffer Nicholson, Mikey Nicholson and wife Tracy, Michaelee Jones and husband Joey, Brenna Bryson, and Anna Bryson; twenty one great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May19, 2018 at Turkey Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Pisgah Forest. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Air Force.
