Lynda Kammerlohr Walker, 76, transitioned gently from this life at the Elizabeth House of Four Seasons Hospice on Wednesday evening, October 18, 2017 surrounded by her family.

Lynda was born on July 24, 1941 in Long Beach, California to Howard and Frances Kammerlohr. At age seven, she moved with her family to Port Washington, NY and lived there until she attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO where she studied English Literature and Education. She married her childhood sweetheart, Bob Walker, and raised their two boys, Riley and Robert, in Newtown, CT. She worked in editing at McGraw Hill in NYC, and later at Seabury Press Children's Books. When their children were grown, Lynda worked at The Geriatric Health Center in Southbury, CT. Lynda and Bob moved to Hendersonville, NC in 1997.

Lynda's greatest passion was her family. She loved being a wife, mother and homemaker. Her home was filled with music, adorned with the beauty of her gardens and reflected her artistic temperament. Lynda was a nurturer. When her husband, Bob, was recovering from a difficult surgery, he reaffirmed this aspect of her. "She was so gentle and so loving when I was in pain. She was an angel; a real blessing. This was just how she was." Other hobbies of Lynda's included gardening, line dancing, yoga, hula hooping, walking, reading, Mah Jong and volunteering. The joys of her life were her family, friends, her beloved dog, Flash, and the witnessing of a new day dawning.

Lynda lived the way she died; with love and grace. She is survived by her husband, Bob Walker; her two children: Riley Walker and his wife, Jan Walker, Robert Dale Walker and his wife, Shari Azar; her two grandchildren: Rachel Walker and Mary Campbell Walker; and her sister, Virginia Park.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Frances Kammerlohr and her sister, Diana Cooke.

A memorial service will be held on November 4, 2017 at 2 pm at the Episcopal Church of St. John In The Wilderness in Flat Rock, NC. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to Four Seasons Hospice of Hendersonville, NC.
