Marion Carl “Brick” Ellis of Asheville NC passed away on January 8, 2019 at the age of 94.
Born in Miami, Florida on March 24, 1924 to Jeanne and Carl Stanton, Marion was later adopted by Harry Ellis. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp on and entered WWII in 1942 and flew on several heavy bombing missions in Foggia, Italy with the 15th Air Force, 5th wing, 483 group, 816 squadron. He was shot down twice and survived to live a very happy and full life.
He is survived by his 3 Children; Anne Clem, Jeanne Gualano, and John Ellis, his former wife and best friend Geraldine Dineen Ellis, 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He spent his entire career in the insurance industry, taking care of his clients as if they were his own family. He was a loving father and devoted citizen. He volunteered his time in the church and the Lions and Elks club. He loved being outdoors and enjoying various sports. As a previous member of the football team at the University of Florida he watched his Gators play every game and was a loyal fan until his last day. He also enjoyed playing tennis, throwing a ball with his kids, swimming, dancing, singing, giving a good Irish toast, bowling, and long road trips.
Private funeral services will be rendered at the VA Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC on Friday, January 25th, 2019.
The family would like to invite all friends to join in a celebration of life which will be held at Foggy Mountain Brew Pub on Saturday, January 26th from1:00PM - 3:00PM. Friends and Family are welcome to come raise a pint, give an Irish toast and share a story or two.
