Martha Gay Owen Smith, age 75, of Brevard passed away July 22, 2018 at St. Joseph after a brief illness in Asheville.

She was born in Brevard, NC on December 13, 1942 to Van and Edna Owen of Brevard. She was self employed before retiring and lived as a military wife for twenty years.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Story.

Survivors include her children, Danny Owen and Rhonda Brittain; her big sister and best friend, Dorothy Brown; brothers, Charles, Steve, and Larry Owen; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

At her request, there will not be a service.
