Maurice Reagan Cheek, 84, of Buncombe County, North Carolina, died Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center.
Maurice was born May 12, 1935, to Mary Katherine Jones Cheek and Herbert George Cheek. He served in the United States Army, and worked in the A&P Food Store from the time he was 16 years old until his retirement. Maurice was a member of the Morgan Hill Baptist Church in Weaverville. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Maurice was preceded in death by both of his parents; his sisters, Betty Sue Cheek Yarborough and Mary Lou Cheek Messer; and his brother, Robert Bradley Cheek.
Maurice is survived by Sarah Jean Little John, his spouse of 57 years; his children, Mary Frances Cheek and Timothy Reagan Cheek, both of Asheville, NC; his brothers, Herbert Cheek and Joe Cheek; and many nieces and nephews.
A service for Maurice will be held at noon on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC. Dr. Branton Burleson will officiate.
