Meck Robert Penley, age 77, of Asheville, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2019 at his residence.
Mr. Penley was born on June 6, 1942, in Buncombe Co., to the late John Robert Penley and Mary Marie Vanover Penley. He was the oldest of five children and graduated from Owen High School in Swannanoa. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Bay of Pigs invasion in Cuba. He was retired from his job as a financial supervisor in the automotive industry. He enjoyed cooking, eating, fishing, golfing, and bird hunting.
In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeannie Marie.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Robbie Penley and wife Tanya, of Florida; two daughters, Marki Sherman of Michigan and Micky Penley of Florida; a brother, Tim Penley and wife Tammy, of Asheville; three sisters, Brenda Watkins and husband Bob of Swannanoa, Claudia Sims and husband Harold and Patricia Dockery and husband Kim, both of Asheville; eleven grandchildren; and his beloved dog and faithful companion, Molly.
Mr. Penley’s family would like to say a special thank you to the VA nurses and staff and to the Care Partners nurses and staff, all of whom he sung their praises for the wonderful and compassionate care they showed him during his illness.
A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
