Melissa Rose Wood, 38, passed away on April 3, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 6, 1978 to Robert “Joey” Wood & Rosetta A. Dillaha Wood in Asheville, NC. She grew to be a compassionate, kindhearted and nurturing young woman. Melissa was a free spirit who loved the outdoors, hiking, camping, being on the water and spending time with her family and friends. She also loved animals, and leaves behind her dog, Ty. Melissa also loved children as she once worked as a preschool teacher and these children were a huge part of her heart.

Melissa is preceded in death by her parents; paternal grandparents, Florence Henderson and Sonny Wood; and her maternal grandfather Fred Allen.  

She is survived by her sisters, Jennifer Hedden and husband Joshua of Hendersonville, NC; Tracie Lippard of Hickory, NC; brother, Tim Dillaha of Somerset, KY; grandparents, Norma and Phil Canter of Ormond Beach, FL; five nieces, Taylor, Emmalynn & Alivia Hedden, Taylor &  Jordan Setzer; nephew, Andrew Kirkland and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that loved her dearly.

Services will be held at 1:00 on April 15, 2017 at 187 Wyatt Hill Rd, Hendersonville, NC 28739
