Michael Wilson “Mike” Morgan, 62, of Candler passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at his home. Born on November 30, 1954 in Buncombe County, he was a son of the late William Sevier Morgan, Sr. and Pauline Arledge Morgan. He was a graduate of Enka High School, class of 1973, and he played on the Jets basketball team. Mike was a longtime employee of Ingles and finished his career at Dollar General Market. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf in his spare time, and he spoiled his dog Maggie and his step-grandchildren.

In addition to his father, Mike was preceded in death by his uncles Joseph "Bud" Morgan and Charles Morgan.

Surviving are his loving wife of 10 years, Christine Morgan; son Matthew Wilson Morgan and his wife Melissa of Flat Rock; step-daughters Christy Willis and her husband Jeff and Tammy Woody and her husband Phillip, all of Mars Hill, NC; his mother, Pauline Arledge Morgan; brothers William S. "Billy" Morgan, Jr. and his wife Donna of Candler and Mark Morgan and his wife Adriene of Lexington, SC; aunts Gail Morgan of TN and Liesel Morgan of KY; step-grandchildren Cade Woody, Kadee Jo Woody, and Brayden Willis of Mars Hill, NC; nephew Alex Morgan of West Columbia, SC and nieces Stephanie Morgan of Candler and Kelly Morgan of Charleston, SC.

Visitation with the family will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Hominy Baptist Church with funeral services to follow at 11:00 am. Reverend Joe Yelton will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideons to place Bibles in Mike’s memory.
