Paula Louise Wagner

January 6, 1945 – August 26, 2018

Asheville:  Paula L. Wagner, age 73, passed away early Sunday morning, August 26, 2018 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC after a brief illness.

Paula was born on January 6, 1945 in Olympia, Washington to Stuart O. and Eileen C. (Raaberg) VanSlyke and was the oldest of four children.

As the former Paula Louise Vanslyke on October 3, 1981 in Puebelo, Colarado she married her loving husband of 36 years, Jerome Lawrence “Larry” Wagner who survives along with her two children, Rock D. Barney of Fort Collins Colorado and Kathleen L. Wineinger of Asheville, NC. She also leaves behind her six grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren along with her four step-children, Dana Munsy of Michigan, Dalton Wagner, Daniel Wagner and Jennifer Phillips all of Colorado; Three sisters, Susan Jeans, Joan Nance and Kathryn Graeber all of whom are of Texas.  She was a faithful member and voluntary at her church, The Basilica of Saint Lawrence in Asheville for many years.  A Memorial Mass will be offered in celebration of Paula’s life at 10:00 am Friday, August 31, 2018 in the Basilica, 97 Haywood Avenue Asheville, NC. with Rev. Morris Boyd as celebrant.  At the family’s request committal services will be private.

God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around you, and whispered “COME TO ME”.  With tearful eyes we watch you, and saw you pass away.  Although we could not make you stay.  A golden heart stopped beating.  Hard working hands at rest.  God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. 

Paula will be deeply missed by her loving and devoted husband, children, family and many friends.  May God grant her eternal rest.
