Ruth Bernice Kowalsky

Ruth Bernice Kowalsky, 88, passed away on July 13, 2019 at her home in Pisgah Forest, NC.

Ruth was born May 11, 1931 in Hood County, TX to Fred Cady and Mary Elizabeth Cady Estes.

Throughout her life, Ruth lived in Memphis TN, McAllen, TX, Phoenix, AZ, and San Diego, CA. She was crowned the “Queen of Shelby” in the Cotton Festival in Memphis TN, and received her Bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University. She spent her professional life working in civil service and would follow current events closely. In her personal time, Ruth enjoyed gardening and spending time with her friends and family. She cared for her mother in her final years as well as her disabled son. She loved animals and fostered that love in her daughter, whom she lived with along with her son-in-law the past few years.

Ruth is preceded in death by her spouse Brad Kowalsky, and son Craig Kowalsky.

She is survived by her daughter Connie Chase; son-in-law Pete Chase; brother-in-law Vince Vasel; grandson Ryan Chase; granddaughter Sierra Chase; and great-grandson Keller Ryan Elkovitch.

Ruth was a kind and cheerful person, and was admired and loved by all that knew her. She will be deeply missed.

The family will hold a private service.
