Theodore D. Bitting, Sr. 1929 – 2017 went home to be with the Lord on August 25, 2017 at Asheville Health Care Center. Mr. Bitting was formerly of Klondyke Avenue of Asheville, NC.

Mr. Bitting is survived by his wife whom together would be celebrating 57 years of marriage in October, Dora Bitting; four sons, Theodore, Jr. of Florida, Robert and wife Carol of North Carolina, Andy of North Carolina, and James and wife Nachell of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Jennifer and Justin Dowker of Gaylord, MI, Kim Bitting of MI, Thomas Bitting, Billy Hensley, Makayla Bitting, and Eva Bitting; five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kayden, and Elizabeth Dowker, Braydon Scott, and Adalynn Reynolds all of Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law. He is preceded in death by his mother, Edith; father, Amandus; brother, Albert; sister, Katherine; and an infant son, Thomas.

Mr. Bitting served in the United States Army, Air Force, and as a medic in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Charlotte County Florida Animal Control Officer for 12 years, and retired from Charlotte County Florida Road and Bridge, and was a member of the Marine Corps League in Charlotte County. Mr. Bitting also worked for Rivendell Woods Family Care Home as an SIC for 6 years. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing. Recently, he attended CarePartners Adult Day.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 6 at 2:00 PM at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain with military honors with Rev. Donald Penland officiating.
