Wanda CAROL Goar Minton, 63, of Asheville died on November 3, 2018, following an automobile accident 11 years earlier. She was born on October 16, 1955 to Sharon and John Goar. She was a BA graduate from Baylor University, received her MSW from Virginia Commonwealth University and her MPH from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Carol retired as a director of non-profit organizations and worked tirelessly in assisting people in need. She was a member of the American Needlepoint Guild, Guild of American Papercutters, AMPHA, Hospice Association of America. She was an avid traveler and reader whose interests included the British Isles, The Iona Community, Celtic Spirituality, Art and Philosophy, and many other interests that are too numerous to list. Carol was also a member of the Circle of Mercy Church.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Blan Vance Minton of Asheville; her parents, Sharon and John Goar; Step-children Melanie (Robert) Nault of Neenah, WI; Keith (Colleen) Minton of Chapel Hill, NC; brother Robert (Karen) Goar of Ft. Worth, TX; 2 sisters Carla Goar of Cuyahoga, OH; Camille (Troy) Cates of Burlington, KY; her step-grandchildren Jacob, Emily, Madeleine and Colin. Also left to cherish her memory are her aunts, Beverly Haynes of Pagosa Springs, CO and Barbara (Ron) Staley of Ft. Worth, TX. Carol has numerous relatives in the Fort Worth area and throughout Texas. Carol also had a broad network of friends throughout the United States and the British Isles.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 8, at 3pm at the Land of the Sky United Church of Christ in Asheville. Her ashes are to be scattered per Carol’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Care Partners Hospice in Asheville. Arrangements entrusted to Asheville Mortuary Services.
