The New York Mets lost a loyal fan on May 4, 2019. At 64, Wayne Joseph Carapazza passed away after his courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born November 25, 1954 in Medford, New York, he grew to become an avid Mets fan, knowing exactly when to turn on every game they played. After moving to Florida, you could have found him at the little league fields, drinking coffee and watching his three boys play baseball. His sons became fathers and he redirected his attention to his grandchildren, traveling to see them as much as he could. Wayne always loved drinking coffee and playing cards with family and loved ones. His two greatest skills were being able to make anyone laugh and his spontaneous bursts of singing. Both skills produced smiles that were contagious.
He is survived by his dedicated wife, Sharon; his three sons Sal (Tricia), Victor (Stephanie), and Charlie (Heather) Carapazza; his eight grandchildren – Alivia, Dominic, Luciano, Isabella, Natalia, Victoria, Savanna, and Charlie Luca; his brother Joseph (Dawn) Carapazza; his sisters Gloria (Brian) Carapazza, Tara (Solomon) Alemayehu, Mia (Andy) Kusch, and Nancy (Chad) Wodraska. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph John Carapazza; mother, Nancy Carapazza; and baby brother, John Carapazza.
The family wants to extend its sincere gratitude for all who helped and loved him through his life, especially his most difficult time.
