William “Bill” Calvin Bell, 86, of Burnsville passed away August 29, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Philadelphia, PA June 23, 1931. Bill served in the Air Force, was a master carpenter and retired from TWA at the age of 55. He was a very talented man; he could take something of disrepair and make it into something beautiful.

Bill is preceded in death by his son William “Billy” Bell who passed away in 2007.

Surviving Bill is his wife of almost 65 years, Agnes Bell of the home; daughters, Helen Bell of PA, and Doreen Brannan of NC, sons, Raymond Bell and fiancé Megan Fluegel of NC, and Carl Bell and wife Debby of GA, ten grandchildren, a step-grandchild, and seven great grandchildren.

His life will be valued forever, not by what he took, but by what he gave. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in his memory to Yancey County Hospice.

The family does not have any services planned at this time. Asheville Mortuary Services is assisting the family.
