William Evart Carland

     William Evart Carland, 86, of Asheville, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019, at his residence.

     Mr. Carland was born in Buncombe County, NC to the late Edward Melvin Carland and Margaret Louise Swann Carland. He was married to his wife of 59 years, Mary Louise Carland, who preceded him in death in 2017. Mr. Carland served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War. He was a professional truck driver for 60 years. Most of all, Mr. Carland loved his family. He touched the hearts of many and will be greatly missed.

     Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Carland Tomberlin of Asheville; three grandsons, Brian Randall of Asheville, Travis Shore and Dylan Shore, both of Monroe, NC; a sister in law, Martha Ann Bradley; a brother in law, Larry Bradley, both of Asheville; a niece, Brooke Cordell of Marion, NC; two nephews, Joshua Cordell and wife Milissa of Hampton, TN and Mitchell Cordell of Asheville.

     A memorial service will be held at a later date.
