Alda Geraldine Whitmire

Alda Geraldine Lail Whitmire, aged 82 of Rosman, NC, passed away July 9, 2024, in Flat Rock, NC.

Alda was born September 4, 1941 in Buncombe, NC, to the late Norman Lail Sr. and Mae Reese. She loved butterflies and birds. Alda’s favorite was the Hummingbird and Monarch Butterfly. She loved collecting jewelry and little trinkets. Alda loved her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite movies were Ghost, The Shack and Just like Heaven.

In addition the her parents, Alda is preceded in passing by her husband, Lynch Whitmire Jr.; siblings, Dewey Lail, Avery Lail, Barbara Lail Orr, and Ruby Lail; and children, Carolyn Waldrop and Ricky Whitmire.

Alda is survived by her children, Leslie (Nancy) Whitmire of Brevard, NC, Rita Whitmire of Brevard, NC, Tony (Brenda) Whitmire of Rosman, NC, Melissa (Claudine) Whitmire and Chrissy (Christopher) Brice of Rosman, NC; brother, Phil Lail of Brevard, NC; grandchildren, Nathan Mathis, Christopher Whitmire, Charise McIntosh, Anna (Nathan) Ward, Allen (Alexandria) Whitmire, Gabrielle (Walter) Hudson, Madison Hudson, Layton Hudson, Jennifer Hale, Cheyenne (Gary) Whitmire Lively, Lynch Whitmire III, Asheton, Whitmire, Dennis (Jeani) Whitmire, Amanda (Albert) Hale, and Christian Hale; great-grandchildren, CaRahn Brice, Adrian Whitmire, Daniel Ward, Noah Ward, Alyana Borgia, Wesley Werner, Braven Hudson, Brayden McIntosh, Tytus Sanders, Reannah Sanders, Aylah Roberts, Arynn Roberts, Tezaria Jones, Zamaria Howell, Maeyara Howell, Eriana Howell, Eric Howell Jr. Thaddian Sanders, Naomi Sanders, Timothy Whitmire, Delta Whitmire, Ryleigh Whitmire, Madison Whitmire, Layla McCall, Mina Hale, Jade Hale, Thomas Lively, and Ricky Whitemire Jr.; a dear friend like a daughter, Bobbie Bracken; like grandson’s to her Rashord and Jeremy Brice.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 100 Old Calvert Landfill Rd., Rosman, NC 28772 on August 3rd, 2024 at 3:00 PM.

She missed her husband, son, and daughter so much and now she’s finally at peace with her loved ones. Her family will miss her so much.
