Alfred Joseph Scortino, 92, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.

Chapel services and military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 2nd at Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC. He was born on December 7, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York and did it his way. Alfred loved his family and was a very successful salesman. He enjoyed family gatherings and cooking spaghetti with clam sauce for his loved ones. Family traditions were incredibly important to him. Toward the end of his life he gratefully shared, “I was blind, but now I see!” in reference to his growing faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Elizabeth Sciortino as well as his nine older siblings. He will also be reunited in heaven with his father and mother-in-law Rosario and Carrie Varcadipane.

He is survived by his loving wife, Beatrice Lucy, four sons, a daughter and spouses; James and Cathy Scortino, Alfred Joseph Jr. and Cynthia Scortino, Mark Scortino, Glen Anthony Scortino, Diane Scortino and Michael George White. John and Stacey Sciortino were like a son and daughter-in-law as well.

He adored his grandchildren and their spouses; Chrissy and Thane Trujillo, Timothy and Candice Scortino, Colette and Paul Gautier, Ryan and Shadi Scortino, Morgan and Anderson Merritt and Warner White.

He was also incredibly proud to be a great grandparent to Tanner, Caleb, Hayden, Presley, Tyler, Mason, Priscilla, Silas, Spencer, Esme’, Owen, Cyrus, Corinne and Violet.
