Allen Crenshaw Obituary

Allen Luoma Crenshaw was born in Syracuse, NY on July 14th, 2001. He returned to his family’s homeplace of Asheville, NC as a baby and forever remains. Allen tragically lost his life on January 13th, 2025 at the age of 23.

Allen was full of life and adventure. He enjoyed hiking on the weekends with his son, Adrian, and his dog Pablo. He hoped to one day backpack the Appalachian Trail. Undoubtedly, his love for the Blue Ridge Parkway stemmed from hunting waterfalls with his parents and sister Skylar as a young boy. Allen found peace in the great outdoors underneath the stars and loved looking as far as he could see with his telescope. His curiosity led him to research so many things about the world around him. Allen was passionate about geology, architecture, astronomy, music, cooking, Volkswagens, Nike Air Jordans, football, reading, collecting, animals and loving those around him. He had a big heart and an even bigger smile.

Allen was a beloved Son, Grandson, Brother, Father, and Nephew. He is survived by his devoted and adoring parents father Christopher Crenshaw, mother Amanda Crenshaw, Yaya Patricia Crenshaw; siblings Skylar, Andrew, and Jefferson Crenshaw; half-sister Marley; son Adrian Crenshaw; Uncles Allen Crenshaw, Andrew Lyda and Tim Luoma; Aunts Jamie Lyda, Shannon Lyda ,Carin Luoma and Mary Luoma; Grandparents Kathy and James Lyda, Leo Luoma, and Brian Thompson; Great Grandmother Ellen Barnaby, Great Aunt Marcia Banner; Great Uncle Eddie Crenshaw; cousins JR and Frankie Banks, Wesley Banner, Jonathan Crenshaw, and many other loving cousins not named. Allen was loved by a host of other friends and relatives including those in his parents’ vast extended family and social circle as well as his girlfriend, Hannah.

He was preceded in death by his big brother, Jacob Alexander Crenshaw; grandfather Jefferson “Handaddy” George Crenshaw; great aunt Donna Cannady; and grandmother Sandra “Sandy” Luoma. Allen had fond memories of his time visiting his brothers Andrew and Jacob along with their loving mother Erin. The moments he spent with his Handaddy and Yaya as a very young boy taught Allen to love his family above all else.
