Ms. Anna Kathleen Leckie, 50, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at her home in Hendersonville, NC. Kathleen was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and raised in California. She was a college graduate of California State University, Chico in 2001 and continued her education at University of North Carolina, Charlotte to become an educator and pursue her passion to help shape children’s futures through education and learning. She moved to North Carolina in 2001 after graduating and has been a teacher for 18 and a half years in Cleveland and Henderson County since that date. She worked hard and strived to make the greatest difference every day when she was at work. She treated each student as her own child and encouraged each of them to work to their best potential, never letting a child fall behind or feel unwanted.
She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel J. Leckie, who was born in Scotland and emigrated to the United States from Northern Ireland. She is survived by her mother, Catherine Leckie of Hendersonville; her brothers- John F. Leckie of Davis, California; Colin G. Leckie of Minnetrista, Minnesota; and Fergus C. Leckie of Folsom, California. She is also survived by two daughters- Jessica Catherine and Anna-Nicole, five grandchildren, and eight nieces and nephews. Kathleen’s family was her greatest joy. She always wanted to make beautiful memories and her life revolved around her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed going to visit her brothers, nieces, and nephews and had a love of travel and embracing the unknown. Kathleen made such a strong impact in her short time here and will be forever missed.
Family, friends, and others whose lives she touched are invited to attend her memorial service which will be held at Clear Creek Elementary School on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 2 p.m.
