Billie Susan Riddell

Billie Susan Riddell, aged 74, of Asheville, NC, passed away September 4, 2023.

Billie was born on January 18, 1949, to the late William T. Bame and Aline Pons Bame. In addition to her parents, Billie was preceded in death by her son, Chad Riddell. She was a loving mother, and was always proud of all of Chad’s accomplishments.

Billie graduated from Asheville Catholic High School. She worked at Southern Bell but spent the majority of her life in retail Sales.

She was an animal lover her whole life and always owned a dog. In her later years Pooh, and then Sammy, and then Bellamy were her cherished companions.

Billie loved going antiquing and thrift store shopping with her cousin, Carolyn Swan. She had a great eye for quality and over the years accumulated some beautiful art and special pieces.

Billie will be remembered by her old friends, including Barbara Carter, for their high school antics, sharing of secrets, belly laughs and love and support through difficult times over the past 60 years.

Those left to cherish her memory are her cousin, Carolyn Swan; and special friends, Betty Whitson, Diane Sanders, and Steve and Carrie Coward and their children. They’ll remember her stubbornness, her sense of humor, her high fashion, and the love and interest she took in those she cared for.

A small private service will be held at a later date.

She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
