Brian Montrael Pickens

Brian Montrael Pickens, 38, of Asheville passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023. Born February 14, 1985 in Asheville, NC, he was a son of Marguerite Ailes Melendez of Asheville and the late Charles Louis Pickens, Sr. He attended Asheville High School and completed his education at AB-Tech Community College. Of his many enjoyments in life playing a game of basketball, enjoying his extensive collection of shoes, and playing video games were among his favorites.  In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary Ann Jackson; paternal grandmother, Leola Pickens Young; and brothers, Mell Andree Ailes, II and Ernest Harper.  In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Kamarion Flythe and Da’Mascio Jones both of Asheville; brothers, Louis Pickens, Brandon Pickens, and Charles Louis Pickens, Jr. all of Asheville; adopted mom, Angela O’Brian of Swannanoa; nieces, Michelle Hurst, Gabriel Hurst, La’Tisha Pickens, La’Quita Pickens, and Jessica Patton all of Asheville.
