Brit Veel Traugott

Brit Veel Traugott, 88, of Asheville, NC passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. Born April 22, 1937 in Oslo, Norway, she was the daughter of the late Anne Katherine Veel. Prior to moving to Asheville, NC she resided in Moorestown, NJ. For many years she worked as a social worker with Catholic Charities, offering compassion and wisdom. She was a gifted needle pointer and seamstress. She stitched beauty into the everyday - pillows, tapestries, and tiny treasures. She was smart. She was witty. At times disarmingly so. She delighted in good conversation, a hot cup of black tea, and a well-crafted bit of sarcasm. In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her spouse, Robert “Bob” Traugott. Surviving are her children, Christina Amiri and her spouse, Michael Miller, of Asheville, NC, Paul Traugott and David Traugott both of Asheville, NC; granddaughter, Leila Amiri and her spouse, Drew Wallace, of Asheville, NC; and great-grandchildren, Leo and Miles Wallace. A private family gathering will be held to honor her life. The family encourages you to spend an afternoon enjoying a museum, picking up a local craft, or laughing loudly over something wonderfully silly just as Brit would have done.
