C.J. was born September 23, 1973, to Janet Faye Lewallen Holland and the late Charles Marvin Hammond in San Antonio, Texas. He spent time crossing the country living in Ashland, Kentucky, Everett, Washington, and West Palm Beach, Florida before moving to North Carolina. C.J. graduated from Fairview Independent in Westwood, Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri where he received a degree in Computer Animated Drafting. He also served as a National Guard. He was a talented artist, and enjoyed anything mechanical. He loved rail buggies and boats, and built and modified remote control cars. C.J. worked with Sunnybrook Assisted Living in Hendersonville, North Carolina. He was an amazing man, and friend to all, and loved making others laugh.
C.J. is survived by his mother and stepfather William Holland of Grayson, Kentucky; children, McKenzie, Katelyn, Weyland, Lincoln and Olivia Hammond and Lucas Wireman; sisters, Rosalie Hammond of San Antonio, Texas, and Amanda Hammond Fitch (Fred Fitch IV) of Ashland, Kentucky, stepsister De Holland of Huntington, West Virginia, sister in life, Maranda Hammond (Jim Jamesson) and brothers-in-law Tyson and Ray Writesel; nephew James Hammond (Sara Hammond) and nieces Christine H. Boman (Brian Boman) and Grace Fitch, and step-nephews Drew Holland and Dylan Conn; and great-nieces Isabelle and Delilah, and great-nephew Benjamin. C.J. had a deep love for his family, especially his children, and for his beloved dog, Nova. He loved taking them all around the beautiful parks in the mountains around Hendersonville.
A service will be held to honor C.J. at a later time, to be announced. Internment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashland, Kentucky. Family extends a special thanks to the searchers and community for their support.
